Exciting stuff in the Amber Spyglass

So last night I was on the edge of my seat (not literally of course...reading in bed) with this Amber Spyglass business. Actually, I'm about 1/3 of the way into this third book of the Golden Compass trilogy (that's a lot of threes... or actually, no - it's just three!!!!) and we haven’t even SEEN the spyglass yet, but the action in the story was very exciting. Young Will met up with the village girl, Ama, who showed him where the evil Mrs. Coulter (eMC)was keeping our heroine Lyra. He boldly went right up to the cave where eMC was and started talking to her. I was SO SCARED something bad was going to happen to him. But it didn’t. eMC said she was protecting Lyra and I have to say I was sort of believing her. But Will told Iorek Byrnison (the fabulous polar bear) that he did not believe her. It’s all so very intriguing!! I’m eager to see how this will all come out. But what’s all this business about Dr. Mary Malone hanging out in that world with the funky creatures who get around by hooking their claws into giant seed pods and rolling around like some sort of biker gang?! And why does it seem like Father Gomez is following her? Is he confused? Does he think SHE’s Lyra? What a doofus (but a dangerous, murderous and thus scary doofus).

I dunno Jenn… maybe you should read these books. I could read them again with you and perhaps figure out what the heck is going on!!
