Hooked

OK - thanks to a pedicure and a friend's delayed flight and lost luggage, I found myself with some nice chunks of time to read. I am halfway through chapter 8. I will be looking for creative ways to get some reading in this week because I kind of can't put it down once I start!

So $6 + $6 + $10 + $10 + $350... I think I came out ahead even though I bought the hardcover. And I'll have a pretty matching set on my bookshelf!

Now, now Jenn. I know you are a math and science girl so I know that YOU know that's an unfair comparison since the Kindle price is a one-time cost. Argue against the Kindle on any other grounds you like, but in the long-term analysis, that argument will fail miserably. Pretty books on your shelf is another thing entirely, and if you want to justifying spending more (and killing more trees) for that reason, it's a more subjective argument I won't counter. I still love all the books on my shelves. Of course I was running out of room anyway.

Ha! That's easy for you to say since you have already swallowed that one-time cost! And really, not even so! :-P Now that Oprah is giving the thumbs up to the Kindle, I may have to get one. OK, not really - I'd take your word over hers any day. But I will wait until version 2 comes out. And as I have gotten over not having the physical CD when I download music, I think I will deal with not having the pretty books on my shelves. Although people may think I'm folksy if the come to my house and don't see any high-browed literature on my bookshelves. Oh wait - I forgot what we were reading!
